VOLUNTEER

For even the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve...

Mark 10:45

As a Christian church, we are committed to service. Jesus Christ our Savior “did not come not to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many” (Matthew 20:28).

And Jesus, in turn, teaches His followers to “Be dressed ready for service” (Luke 12:35).

Volunteer Opportunities

As Christians, we are to whole-heartedly “serve one another in love” and to “use whatever gift we have received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms” (Ephesians 6:7; Galatians 5:13; 1 Peter 4:10). It is our great privilege and joy to give our lives in service the way Jesus gave His life for us.

There are so many areas within our church where volunteers are counted on to give their time and talents to use their unique gifts to help build the Kingdom. If you feel God calling you to serve here with us, here are some areas where volunteers are always appreciated and necessary.

Greeters and Ushers

Our greeters and ushers are often the “face” of the church for newcomers. Greeters and ushers provide a valuable service in helping people find their way around and worship comfortably in our services. We look for joyful servants with a desire to help others get to know our church family. If that’s you, consider serving as a greeter or usher.

Media Team

Do you enjoy playing with technology and media? Think you might be interested to put that skill, gift, or hobby to use for the Lord?
Consider joining and helping us to grow our multimedia ministry. There are a number of ways to serve:
  • Operate sound, lights, and Powerpoint during our morning service, weddings and other occasions.
  • Operate cameras, live broadcasting, recording, etc., during our morning service, weddings and other occasions.
  • Design and update our website and other communications material.
  • Design promotional material for special events.
  • Take photographs for church gatherings, materials, and membership directory.

Administration

The church office is a beehive of family activity! In some ways, nearly all of our ministries rely on office administration to provide support. That means there’s always important ministry to be done in the church office!
Our office and administration ministries include:
  • Updating the church membership directory
  • Filling pews with supplies
  • Maintaining our ministry database
  • Assisting with photocopying and filing
  • Making follow-up contact with visitors and new members
  • Providing logistical support for special events
  • Maintaining and updating the church’s website

Hospitality

Do you have the gift of hospitality? Do you enjoy meeting and greeting new people and making them feel welcome and at home? Consider joining our Hospitality team.

Missions

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations - Matthew 28:19
Join our missions team in reaching others for Christ Jesus in following this very important command.

Children's Ministry

At First Baptist Church, we treasure our children because “sons are a heritage from the Lord, children a reward from him” (Ps.127:3). Jesus himself cherished children and blessed them, saying “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these” (Mark. 10:14). Therefore, it is a joy to serve and pray for this rising generation.
The parents of the church are primarily responsible under God to bring up their children in the training and instruction of the Lord. Our role in children’s ministry is to reinforce the parents’ teaching through an array of children’s classes, as well as other ministries for parents, such as training events, discussion groups, and a parenting Sunday School class.
Our goal is to teach God’s Word faithfully and model authentic Christianity for our children. We pray that by God’s grace, over the years, all the children in our trust “will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor” (Isa. 61:3).
Our Children’s Ministries Include
  • Children’s Church
  • Kids’ Praise Factory
  • Worship Warehouse
  • Children’s Choir
  • Sports Ministries
  • Vacation Bible School
  • Youth Group
